Deeply Rooted in the Word || Starting a Consistent Bible Study.

As Christians we must study and mediate on the Word of God. Sometimes, we find ourselves wandering away from God’s Word because of other activities. We must have a very healthy Word life because it is our meat and daily bread.

Here are effectively tips to help your Bible study life.

AMP:This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.

1. Own a Bible : Technology has made us something else. The use of electronic bibles has made owning a bible seem unnecessary. It is very important to own a hardcopy Bible to avoid distractions from your device, disappointment from power failure etcetera. It is easier to take notes and highlights on a hard copy Bible unlike a Bible app where you can easily loose everything you have documented. Owning and using a physical Bible also teaches you patience and how to rely on the Holy Spirit because you can’t just search any scripture you want; you have to patiently check. No room for being a microwave Christian.

2. Own a special journal and pen: Writing is very powerful.

Habakkuk 2:2 AMP:And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by.

A pen and a journal should be available for your Bible study. The purpose of reading the Bible is not to have a compendium of the stories but to get knowledge of God and revelation applicable to your life. As you study with the help of the Holy Spirit, revelation will come and you need to immediately write it down because Spiritual things are very volatile.

3. Set a conducive location: The atmosphere for spiritual activities is almost as important as the spiritual activity itself.

God is everywhere (Omnipresent) by His sovereignty but He does not meet with people everywhere.
In the dealings of God with men, location matters. The atmosphere and environment created, communicates the value ascribed to the Person you desire to meet.

4. Set a time convenient for you everyday: Look into your plan for the day and set a time when you know you’ll be free and won’t be disturbed. A time for just you, your Bible and the Holy Spirit.

5. Get a Bible study partner or join or Bible Study Group: For accountability, you need a person or people who also study their Bibles. There is a place for personal study and that must not be ignored but having a partner helps you also. You can ask questions, pray together and research.

Colossians 3:16

ESV:Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

As Christians we are to CHASE after God through our lifestyle, worship and study of the Bible and I found a meaning for CHASE online.

H – Hour

A – Accountability

S – Slip-ups

E – Encouragement

God wants to have an intimate relationship with you.

You have captivated my heart, my sister, my bride; you have captivated my heart with one glance of your eyes, with one jewel of your necklace.

An average Christian is taught at home (and sometimes church) that God is a big scary creature in the sky that watches you to nail you immediately you sin. Most of us grew up believing that God is far away in heaven and the presence of God is our local church.

We were always told “Jesus loves you” but we never believed it in the real sense because most of those who told us didn’t know this “love” themselves.

We were told that God wants to have a relationship with us. It was made to seem like this relationship is different from the relationship we have with people but this isn’t entirely true.

We were told that the church is the bride of Christ. But what is the church? The building or the people?

What is the role of a bride and how does the husband love her?

We have been distanced from God long enough. The Holy Spirit is correcting wrong teachings and doctrines. He’s bringing men to Himself.

God wants to be your “boo” and “bae”.

The greatest joy of a husband is companionship with his bride.

God desires a relationship with you. He wants to love you intimately. He wants to take care of you and care for you. He wants to be the one you tell everything to. He wants to be the lover of your soul and your best friend. He wants to share life’s moments with you.

God thinks you’re beautiful. God loves the sound of your voice.

He has totally fallen in love with you and wants to hold you and heal your wounds.

It hurts God to see you go about your life with no regard to Him whatsoever asides one or two religious prayer here and there. God hates religion and ritual.

I urge you to begin to seek God earnestly.

Chase after Him like your life depends on it because it does.

Empty yourself in worship and reverence to God. Pour out your life as a drink offering to Him. Get rid of distractions and focus on Him. Be in one place and tabernacle with Him. Consciously pursue His presence. Tell Him how much you love and need Him.

Let Him know His love is acknowledged and appreciated.

Let Him know His sacrifice was not in vain.

Set a time for Him daily. Just to be with Him, pour out your heart to him and listen to Him.

No relationship can thrive on distance and lack of communication. You must spend time with your beloved and be in constant communication with Him.

Let His heart knit with yours and His heartbeat against yours.

Yes. God wants to love you intimately like that. Your very own body can host the presence and glory of God.

Listen closely and you’ll hear Him calling out to you, reaching for you, pulling you to Himself.

Wondering why God is so interested in you? You really have nothing to offer him in the real sense. He made you and can replace you anytime. So why would He be so ravished by mare man?

Love.

Love is the answer.

Psalm 63:1AMP:
O God, You are my God, earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirsts for You, my flesh longs and is faint for You, in a dry and weary land where no water is.

Ask for a passion, thirst and hunger for God that never dies.

When passion dies in a marriage, the marriage also dies.

Someone told me a story of a couple whose marriage was falling. The wife had a disease that made her unattractive to her husband so the husband filed for a divorce and wanted to leave his wife immediately. The wife pleaded that she be given 3 months first. In this 3 months, the husband would do literally everything for her. This included bathing her, cooking for her and even carrying her in his arms wherever she wanted to go. The husband grudgingly agreed and it began.

He took her everywhere, bathed her, cooked for her, fed her and did everything for her.

At first, it was burdensome and the man kept complaining about how “heavy” his wife is and how tired he was of everything.

But as days went by, she “became lighter and lighter” and carrying her became easier.

Days turned into weeks and weeks into months and he soon began to see the young girl he had fallen in love with and married in his sick wife. Intimacy deepened, passion was restored and he nurtured his wife back to health. The husband went to the court himself and said he was no longer interested in the divorce.

Nothing was wrong in the first place, passion just left.

This is a call to intimacy.

If you’re becoming lukewarm or cold, the solution is simple; spend sometime with God!

Ask that He rekindles a blazing fire for Him in you. Let Him be all that you think of.

God is calling you to the secret place. Don’t say No.

5 Reasons You Should Pray With Scriptures.

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Prayer should be a conversation which means it should be two sided. Praying without reading God’s Word is like having a one sided conversation. Praying with scriptures gives life to your prayers.

Here are five important reasons you should pray with scripture.

1. You commit God to your affairs

For me, this is the most important reason to pray with scriptures.

Everything you’re looking for has been made provision for in the Bible. Search for its roots in the scriptures and use it in your prayer. Doing that, you commit God to your request by His Word which He honors.

If your request can not be found in the bible or does not resonate with anything in God’s Word, then you may have to recheck such prayer.

God is committed to His Word so backing your prayers with scripture is very important; what moves God even faster is when you get a revelation for that scripture.

2. You strengthen yourself

Scriptures have a way of strengthening and encouraging us; that is part of it’s purpose. Resting and reassured of what God has in store for you. This makes your prayer more effective and productive.
3.You know the mind of God concerning the issue you’re praying about.

Have you ever seen a scripture and realized you have been saying a prayer wrongly all your life? God speaks through His word. I read somewhere that “If you can’t hear God, read God”. God speaks through His Word.

4. You get revelations of greater things available for you.

Ephesians 3:20

NIV:Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,

The Word of God is a compendium of the possibilities available in God. Everything in God’s Word, God is able to do.

5. You correct your intentions

Heb 4:12

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

When you pray, God wants to know the basis of your prayer. To what end is your request? What are your strong reasons? Wrong intentions and reasons are the reasons for many unanswered prayers. Studying God’s Word corrects your motives and intentions which gives you better results. Praying with scripture, helps you remain spiritual and not veer off into carnality.
