Love Is Spelt F-o-o-d

All over the world, February is known as the month of love, and itโ€™s not just love in the air- itโ€™s gifts and flowers, chocolates and fancy cards and bottles of wine festooned with red ribbons. If you have the privilege of being comfortable, that is.

However the tale is different for some Nigerians subsisting on less than 300naira a day.

Love is spelt f-o-o-d.
Thatโ€™s why Love Showers decided to do something different. Something that actually shows what love really is; Sacrifice. Giving. Smiles.

Itโ€™s Raining- Food!

Love Showers is a CSR initiative of Insight Hour Network. Led by the industrious Miracle Ewim, alongside her partner Iwejuo Stanley, Love Showers kicked off her maiden charity event with a bang- Project Feed 500.

And what better place to start than Lagos?

Lagos, although the abode of most of the biggest companies and start ups in the country, still has a large number of people living below the poverty level. People who can not afford a decent meal a day.

Bearing this in mind, Love Showers, armed with goodwill, food bags, and a formidable army of 100 volunteers, spread out over 5 locations in Lagos state, distributing food bags to 500 less privileged persons.

From Agege to Ajegunle, Idiaraba to Iyanoba and finally Okoko, these soldiers of love marched across slummy streets, sharing food bags and smiles to less privileged persons who, thanks to Love Showers, could be sure of a decent meal for the day.

A Sneak Peek.

One of the nice volunteers let us take a sneak peek into the beautifully packaged food bags. Each of the 500 food bags contained:

1kg bag of rice.
Cooking oil.
Salt.
Seasoning cubes
A satchet of tomatoes.

These food bags were distributed by the volunteers across 5 locations- 100 bags per location.

The Army of Cupids- Our Volunteers

You know how they say nothing is free in Naija? Well, these volunteers proved us wrong!

In the weeks and months leading up to the big day, volunteers all over the nation- students, career people, business owners, numbering about a hundred, canvassed for the cause of these less privileged ones.

Taking up this project like it was their very own, these love fighters solicited donations from generous Nigerians all over to pull the project off.

On the D-day, the 9th of Febuary, 2019, 100 volunteers spread out over 5 areas in Lagos, sharing and caring, and putting smiles on 500 unsuspecting faces.
Love does come in different shapes and sizes- from the plump lady handing out food bags at street corners, to the undergraduate guy raising awareness on social media; to the students packing food bags.

Every act was a gift of love to the 500 needy individuals.

What Went Down Afterwards

When all was said and done, we wanted to get a feel of the recipients- Most of them, no doubt, โ€œnever expereditโ€, in Lasisiโ€™s words. Christians, Muslims, old and young; were all pleasantly surprised, and grateful. Because itโ€™s a happy thought to think that love still thrives in Nigeria- despite all weโ€™ve been through as a people.

While the rest of us had baby Cupids shooting arrows of love, for these 500, Cupid would most likely resemble a rain god, opening the skies and raining love showers. And food.

3 Years Blog Anniversary ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ ๐ŸŽ†๐ŸŽˆ + Exciting Announcements ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽบ – Dupe’s Blog

Dupe’s Blog

It’s God’s gift to me and I don’t take it for granted. I feel really honored that God trusted me with such a beautiful space.

On this day, exactly 3 years ago, my very young self sat down in my room did something that changed the course of my life forever.

With a phone in my hands, I opened the blog I had been dreaming of, for months. And today, that little seed is a growing plant ๐ŸŒฑ of 3 years.

I started off barely knowing what I was doing. I won’t claim to have had it all together when or before I started. In fact, I was almost clueless all through my first year of blogging.

Now, 3 years later, I have successfully built an amazing blog with thousands of monthly visitors and awesome consistent readers from across 90 countries including Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, The United States, American Samoa, Bahamas, Barbados, Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Suriname, Sint, Maarten, Hong Kong SAR China, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Belarus, Panama, Qatar, Macedonia, Dominica etc.

And I have coached people and helped them start and build excellent blogs. I know I have not even scratched the surface yet because there’s so much more! The vision I have for the blog is large and I’m nowhere close.

My blog has taught me several lessons, one of which is; you don’t have to have it all figured out before you start.
Most times, we get instructions and inspirations from God to start something and we want a complete blueprint before we obey. This is not too good because you delay and limit yourself.
I encourage you today to go for your dreams, no matter how saturated the market seems. I found and carved my niche along the way and as time goes on, I seek better ways to improve the blog.

God has really been faithful to me over the years despite challenges here and there. The grace of God and My passion to impact lives especially women, has kept me going through the years.

My blog has brought me before Kings. Great men and women have reached out to me because of my blog.
It’s my fragrance from God that travels far beyond places my legs would ever go.

Today, I’m grateful for so many things but I’m most grateful for every life that has been changed, every mind that has been transformed, every life I have inspired, every life that was saved and every single soul that visited my blog and left a better person.

My assignment through this blog is to reach out to nations with the Light that I have, in unconventional ways and to bring humanity to the Lordship of Christ.

We’re open to sponsorships, advertisements, brand collaborations, products reviews, features and selling out ad space in our side bar. Send a mail for enquiries.

I’m grateful to everyone who has supported me in one little way or another. I’ve gotten support from the most unimaginable people.

My Parents, Dr & Mrs Samson Olubunmi Olomola. They’ve always supported my dreams and believe in me even more than I believe in myself.

My Spiritual Father, Apostle Joshua Selman Nimmak. His wisdom and counsel can not be overemphasized. He’s a huge fan of the blog and a huge contributor to my spiritual and personal growth. He encourages me and pushes me for more.

There are so many women who inspire me to be better through their lives, blogs and counsel and they mean so much to me. Thank you all for setting the pace.

To every friend and mentor who has been there and believes in me, I’m super grateful and I can’t even begin to mention names. God bless you all. We will all be great.

Thank you for being part of Dupe’s blog. Let’s do greater things this year.

Special Announcement

Dupe’s Blog has many exciting things prepared for you readers but they’re still baking in the oven.

The first is our Giveaway which is long overdue. I have a lot on my hands now but I trust God for Grace this year to properly plan and bless one or two of my blog readers with beautiful presents. Visit the blog subsequently for more information.

The second special announcement is that the blog will publish the maiden edition of its magazine this year!

Yesssss *inserts dance*

It’s a plan that has been on since last year and I’m glad that it’s slowly but surely materializing.

I’m really excited about it and I’ve started plans to ensure it becomes a reality. It promises to be a blessing to everyone. So please support me in your prayers and any way else.

It’s a magazine that seeks to exceed the status quo.

If you have anything to share with me, you want to contribute to the success of the magazine, or you need counsel, you can send me a mail on the “Contact me” form under my menu โฌ†. I’d be more than elated to read from you and reply.

Thank you for reading the blog of a young girl wearing the shoes of a grown woman and trying to change the world.

I love you all so much!

Be sure to subscribe with your mail down below to get notified of all the good stuff first.

HIGH FLIERS ARE INFORMATION GETTERS

The article “High fliers are information getters” was written by Shotunde Oluwasegun

Who is a Highflyer?

A person or a type of *aircraft* that flies at high elevations.

Similarly an Highflyer is a person who has the potential to be very successful, especially academically or in business (endeavors).

In this context, the aircraft is a medium of flight, and this flight is information.

What then is information?
โœด Things that are or can be known about a given topic; communicable knowledge of something.

โœด In other words information is what is conveyed or represented by a particular arrangement or sequence of things.

As you aspire to soar to your new height in life, understand that, the level of your flight is determined by the information that you receive.

So, get information because, the greater/weightier the information you have, the greater your ability to fly to higher heights.

When you get relevant information, your life becomes an attractive force. This information keep you on the firing line, and you begin to expand and fly High.

In Creative space like music and Arts, are you struggling with finding relevancy in your field?

Then I advice you go for information, because Highfliers are information getters.

So, as a person on the journey to his new height, starting from today, get INFORMATION.
