Deeply Rooted in the Word || Starting a Consistent Bible Study.

As Christians we must study and mediate on the Word of God. Sometimes, we find ourselves wandering away from God’s Word because of other activities. We must have a very healthy Word life because it is our meat and daily bread.

Here are effectively tips to help your Bible study life.

AMP:This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.

1. Own a Bible : Technology has made us something else. The use of electronic bibles has made owning a bible seem unnecessary. It is very important to own a hardcopy Bible to avoid distractions from your device, disappointment from power failure etcetera. It is easier to take notes and highlights on a hard copy Bible unlike a Bible app where you can easily loose everything you have documented. Owning and using a physical Bible also teaches you patience and how to rely on the Holy Spirit because you can’t just search any scripture you want; you have to patiently check. No room for being a microwave Christian.

2. Own a special journal and pen: Writing is very powerful.

Habakkuk 2:2 AMP:And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by.

One of the women of God I follow on Twitter @Sopharush created an amazing journal which I hope to get on her next release. You can get yours too.

A pen and a journal should be available for your Bible study. The purpose of reading the Bible is not to have a compendium of the stories but to get knowledge of God and revelation applicable to your life. As you study with the help of the Holy Spirit, revelation will come and you need to immediately write it down because Spiritual things are very volatile.

3. Set a conducive location: The atmosphere for spiritual activities is almost as important as the spiritual activity itself.

God is everywhere (Omnipresent) by His sovereignty but He does not meet with people everywhere.
In the dealings of God with men, location matters. The atmosphere and environment created, communicates the value ascribed to the Person you desire to meet.

-Apostle Joshua Selman (Eternity Network International – Koinonia)

4. Set a time convenient for you everyday: Look into your plan for the day and set a time when you know you’ll be free and won’t be disturbed. A time for just you, your Bible and the Holy Spirit.

5. Get a Bible study partner or join or Bible Study Group: For accountability, you need a person or people who also study their Bibles. There is a place for personal study and that must not be ignored but having a partner helps you also. You can ask questions, pray together and research.

Colossians 3:16

ESV:Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

As Christians we are to CHASE after God through our lifestyle, worship and study of the Bible and I found a meaning for CHASE online.

C – Choose

H – Hour

A – Accountability

S – Slip-ups

E – Encouragement

I hope this helps. As you strive daily to become better in your relationship with God, may your heart become knitted with His.

Love, Mo’.

5 Important Things You Didn’t Know About The Stethoscope.

At the beginning of this session in school, I ordered for a new double tubed stethoscope. After using it for a while and researching, I learnt a few uncommon things about it that I’m going to share with you today.

But first, introduction.

The stethoscope is an acoustic medical device for auscultation, or listening to the internal sounds of an animal or human body. It typically has a small disc-shaped resonator that is placed against the chest, and two tubes connected to earpieces.

Wikipedia

The Stethoscope is a very important machine that helps you understand the conditions of vital organs in the body like your heart and lungs. It also helps to understand the level of cough in chest and abnormalities in intestines. It’s also used with BP measurement device, sphygmomanometer, to record blood pressure.

If you have a patient or an elderly person at home, having a personal stethoscope is for you.

Having a stethoscope at home and using it to understand the condition of vital body parts of any family member is found to be immensely helpful in critical times.

Learning the basics, the use and importance of a stethoscope is very important and a nurse or doctor can help you with that but I’ll share five important uncommon facts you should know as well.

1. The first stethoscope was invented in 1816 by French doctor René Laënnec and consisted of a wooden tube, similar to an ear trumpet (used by those who were hard of hearing). The stethoscope was a monaural device, meaning it was used with just one ear.

2. The stethoscope is a sensitive instrument. It should be handled with some care to avoid damage and it requires periodic cleaning.

3. If you normally wear your stethoscope draped around the neck, always keep it around the collar. This is to avoid making the tubing stiff when continuously exposed to the skin.

4. The stethoscope can be used to listen to a variety of sounds to assist with the assessment and diagnosis of a patient. These include lung, heart and bowel sounds. The stethoscope is also routinely used in association with a sphygmomanometer to assess blood pressure by listening to blood flow sounds.

5. The stethoscope, if not used correctly, can make you go deaf! Yes, deaf. Users of a stethoscope may be exposed to loud noise if the bell is accidentally dropped or struck against a hard surface especially if it hits the ground while the earpieces are in the user’s ears (particularly the double tubed stethoscope).

Bonus: The stethoscope is awesome for flat lays 😍😍😍

Peep the flat lays I made.

There you have it! You’re now wiser.

Thanks for reading 💜

How to be More Productive – Essential Tips for Busy Days

A saying goes “When people ask you not to bite more than you can chew, tell them that you’d rather choke on greatness than nibble on mediocrity”.

There is a price to pay for the prize of greatness and it’s never a cheap price. The aim is not to be busy all our lives but there is a season when life will be very demanding; days when you will have little or no time for yourself (if you are not at that season yet, it will definitely come so you equally need this blog post). These seasons stretch and expand you and sometimes you feel like you’re going to break but most times it’s just making you a better version of yourself.

While we’re encumbered with loads of assignments and work, we ignore the fact that it us taking a toll on our bodies. Don’t ignore your physical health, you need it to sit at the table of greatness.

The whole of this semester has been very demanding on me and looking back, I realize I may not have gotten it all right but I have actually done a commendable job and I am very optimistic about my results. It is just a week to my exams and I thought to share healthy habits, tips and “wisdom nuggets” which I engaged that made things easier for me.

These tips are not going to make all the work go away but they’re going to help you maximize your time, remain healthy and feel fulfilled at the end of each day.

Always have breakfast

Breakfast can be called the most important meal of the day because it provides the body and brain with fuel after an overnight fast. Starting your day without breakfast leads to you overworking your body. Your body requires a level of glucose and energy to enable you concentrate, assimilate, make meaningful contributions and generally make the best out of your day.

Always be on time

Tardiness has a way of making you unproductive. You should always be on time to give yourself a buffer in case something delays you. Trying to show up at the exact time of your appointment sometimes leads to lateness because of unplanned events. With a long day ahead, the last thing you need is exhausting your energy trying to hurry which often leads to disorganization. To make sure you are ready for the day, always arrive early so you will have a few minutes to relax, think about the tasks ahead, and get organized. Being on time begins from waking up on time which in turn is determined by your bed time.

Go to bed on time

“Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise”. Whenever I don’t sleep well at night, my days are usually not very productive. So I only sacrifice my sleep to to pray, read or spend time with God. Any other thing can be done during the day. Research shows that mornings can make or break your day. It is very common for successful CEOs to start their day well before 6 a.m.

They help you do more!

Reward yourself from time to time

Buy books, food or clothes for yourself after accomplishing any task or meeting any target.

Understand Yourself

Last session, I stayed in the hostel on campus and it was quite an experience. Everybody (family and friends) wanted me to stay in the hostel because according to them, “it would make things easier for me since my classes are not too far from the hostel and it would help me read better because it is in school”. They have a point but they were talking based on general evaluation; that hostel helps some people does not mean it’ll help me.

I also, with the mentality that since my classes were all through the day, it’d be better and easier for me to stay in school but I was wrong. It didn’t work like that.

After every exhausting day in class, the last thing I needed was going back to a room full of excited ladies who have no idea how busy my day was because theirs wasn’t.

So I would go back to the hostel everyday and end up wasting the little time I had in the evenings and eventually, by nightfall, I’d be too tired to read, have a healthy meal or prepare for the next day which always led to me getting up late to the next day.

This semester, I stay at home and have been going to classes from home. I immediately realized that home works better for me. I get to pray, sleep well, have my privacy, and even read better. I stay overnight with friends in the hostel when I have late tutorials or group reading.

In a nutshell, all I’m saying is understand yourself and stick to what works for you.

Busy days can be productive and fulfilling only if you use them well.
