2019 – 25 Scriptures to Help Guide Your Goal Setting

Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. ~ Proverbs 3:5-6

Failing to acknowledge and involve God as you plan for next year, is pride.

Yes, I said it.

This is the time of the year when everyone is writing and talking about “goal setting” and how to do it rightly. Everyone seems to know the best way and everything.

Brethren, setting smashing goals is important but hearing from God is “importanter”.

Amen?

And let the church say…

Amen!

Proverbs 16:9 NIV:In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.

The reasons you should involve God in your goal setting are numerous.

I say all the time that “some things do not take time, they take God“.

Some of the things you wrote down, won’t happen even in your wildest dreams unless God is involved.

Also, I think it’s very important to set your goals alongside scriptures and prayers because it aligns you and makes you know what God wants.

Prov 16:3 AMP:Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.

Seeking God’s face as you set your goals gives you clarity and saves you from many unnecessary mistakes, it helps you know what goals to even set.

Seeking God’s face gives you strength and reminds you that you’re not alone.

I even recommend that you write these scriptures and everything God says to you, alongside your goals so that you’re constantly reminded of them when you go back to read your goals.

Please pray and study these scriptures as you set goals for the coming year.

1. Psalm 127:1KJV: Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

2. Habakkuk 2:2AMP: And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by.

10 Habits of Highly Successful People

Contrary to what many of us have been made to believe, success is very predictable, just as failure is.
You can tell if you’ll be successful or not because success does not happen in a day, it is a build up and product of habits.

There is a formula for success.

No one becomes successful by accident. Everyone who is successful today practiced something over time. Some intentionally practiced it, while others unknowingly practiced it. But they both became successful because a formula gives result regardless of your acknowledgement of the formula.

It is important however to know the formula for success because, it makes you able to repeat and replicate your result multiple times even in the lives of others, but someone who “accidentally” became successful is at risk because they can not replicate it.

When you do things mistakenly and succeed, it is more dangerous than failing because it creates fear in you and complacency. – Apostle Joshua Selman

It’s been quite a long year and we have recorded a lot of successes and failures. Most of the failures stemmed from things we either didn’t know or things we knew and didn’t do.
You a need superior quality of knowledge to do better and greater in 2019.

The things you do daily form your habits and your habits directly translate into your lifestyle.
Bad habits are toxic and lead to a bad lifestyle.

Here are 10 habits successful people practice, supported by quotes from them that are sure to guarantee your success.

Successful people;

1. Are disciplined

Every other point after this is tied to discipline.
In his book “No excuses – The power of self-discipline“, Brian Tracy defined Discipline as self control, self mastery, self denial and delayed gratification.

With self-discipline, I have built successful businesses in training, consulting, speaking, writing, recording, and distribution. My audio and video programs, books, seminars, and training programs have sold more than $500 million in thirty-six languages and fifty-four countries. Over the years I have consulted for more than 1,000 companies and trained more than 5 million people in live seminars and talks. In every case, the practice of self-discipline has been essential to my success” – Brian Tracy

2. Are ever learning

Successful people are great readers and learners. Two powerful ways to constantly learn is through reading books and relating with intelligent minds.

Books allow you to fully explore a topic and immerse yourself in a deeper way than most media today.” Mark Zuckerberg

“There is divine beauty in learning…. To learn means to accept the postulate that life did not begin at my birth. Others have been here before me, and I walk in their footsteps.” ―Elie Wiesel

3. Have mentors and role models

One profound lesson I got from a successful pastor and mentor is to search for the top three most successful people in my field or assignment and study their lives closely.

“Show me a successful individual and I’ll show you someone who had real positive influences in his or her life. I don’t care what you do for a living—if you do it well I’m sure there was someone cheering you on or showing the way. A mentor.” — Denzel Washington

Anthony Robbins says, “Success leaves clues”.

4. Develop themselves

Personal development is your duty. There are no limits for a man who invests and develops himself.

“Life is growth. If we stop growing, technically and spiritually, we are as good as dead.” ―Morihei Ueshiba

Dress like it until you become it. This is not to encourage extravagance and unnecessary luxury but to encourage decent and clean dressing that makes you presentable.

How to be Part of the 8 Percent People Who Achieve their Goals .

Happy Friyay Guys!

Research shows that 92 Percent of People Don’t Achieve Their Goals – That is according to research by the University of Scranton.

This shouldn’t scare you, there are measures to be taken.

The problem starts from the goals set and how they’re set.

SETTING GOALS.

What do you want?

A goal is aimed at something so if you do not know what you want, you can not have a sensible goal. What phase are you currently in your life, what project are you embarking on and how far do you plan to go? This should help guide you in setting your goals.

Do not set too many goals.

You probably have a whole lot to do and are overwhelmed but you need to calm down and select the most important ones; all things may be good but not all are important and needful now. Doing too many things is what weighs you down and gets you tired and weary. So, set few goals.

Write them down.

Research shows that those who wrote down their goals and dreams on a regular basis achieved those desires at a significantly higher level than those who did not; you become 42% more likely to achieve your goals and dreams, simply by writing them down on a regular basis.

Avoid vagueness, be specific.

Don’t set vague goals. Be very direct about them, if possible, attach specific days and time. Also, group them under different categories and areas of your life.

Don’t be scared to stretch your self and your capacity but set realistic goals.

Dare to go for things beyond you, but in wisdom.

Have a real destination

I mean that’s the point of a goal right? Somewhere you should be at the end of the year.

“Easier set than reached”
It is not enough to set goals, you must reach them.
To achieve your goals, more is required of you.

ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS

  • Be passionate and determined all through the year, do not get relaxed at some point and slack.
  • Be consistent: Little drops of water make an ocean.
  • Have a constant check (weekly, monthly)
  • Have a motivation: Something should be your drive; a friend, a picture of where you’re heading etc.
  • Dont get discouraged : You’re going to have bad days, get back up and continue. Good things take time.
  • Accountability: Get someone that can hold you accountable or be disciplined enough to hold yourself accountable. Challenge yourself and scold yourself when necessary.
  • Set benchmarks.
  • Celebrate little achievements ; goals are a build up of little success. Little achievements are an indication that you’re heading somewhere

Get a book and a pen and using these guidelines, set your 2018 goals and crush them!

Happy New Year in Advance Guys, see you next year. Xoxo
